Three promotions announced

We congratulate three promotions at Envivo today.  Tom Bretherton, Managing Director, announced Chris Shortt has taken on the role of Civil Engineering Manager, Lahiru Wijewardhana has been promoted to Planning Manager and Tony Smith, Principal Engineer has joined both Chris and Lahiru as an Associate of the company.

Tom praised their commitment, expertise and ability to evolve in Envivo’s time of rapid growth and change.  “Over the past four years we have grown exponentially, each team member has taken on larger and more challenging roles.  As our teams have expanded the management workload has also increased and it’s great to see our people rising to the task.  We have moved premises and taken on the structural engineering team as well as offering new services such as environmental engineering and 3D laser scanning.  It has been a time of exciting new horizons and huge work pressure combined with the satisfaction of providing exemplary service and development solutions.”

Chris Shortt started with Envivo as our first civil engineer, in August 2012.  He built up the engineering team and the engineering work-flow and today has 18 busy civil engineers in his team.  Chris has always provided an excellent role model for new staff and nurtured talent through the variety of projects, mentoring, learning and development opportunities.  He has qualified as a Chartered Professional Engineering and International Professional Engineer during his time with us whilst working on numerous interesting projects including the Albany Rosegarden apartments, Library Lane apartments, Auckland urban spaces redevelopment, flood engineering, integrated design of both large and small subdivisions and development of expanding and regenerating schools.

Chris is a Civil and Environmental Engineer with more than ten years’ experience in the public and private sector.  Chris’ core skills are in the areas of design and project management, with a particular focus on the specification and delivery of civil infrastructure services, especially wastewater, for land developments and subdivisions.  Chris has worked in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific, and has presented papers at a number of national and international conferences and seminars.

Lahiru Wijewardhana started with Envivo in 2013 and was quickly promoted to Team Leader.  He has shown a calm demeanour and thoughtfulness in everything he does.  His team of planners have tackled a huge range of projects for clients from all over the world.  His portfolio includes resource consent applications for large commercial developments, residential apartments, childcare facilities, public/community facilities, and rural industries.  Lahiru is also experienced in providing professional advice and expert evidence services for private clients, local authorities, community and special interest groups. Through the course of his work, Lahiru has made a number of appearances at Council hearings both as reporting planner for local authorities, and on behalf of private clients.

Lahiru has a Bachelor of Planning from the University of Auckland and has worked as a Planning Consultant for over ten years. He is a full member of the New Zealand Planning Institute.

Tony Smith started with Envivo in 2016 in the position of Principal Engineer (Civil). He has been working on large projects such as town centre redevelopments for Mount Albert, Otahuhu, Federal Street Stage 2 and Mission Bay as well as numerous engineering infrastructure works and development projects. Tony manages engineering projects, working closely with the Project Management team and Structural Engineering team developing a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach to project and client management.  He has extensive experience in civil and infrastructure engineering throughout New Zealand.

Tony qualifications include NZCE (Civil) and NZIM Diploma of Management, CPEng and a professional member of IPENZ.
