What is a Redefinition Survey? (or redef?)
Property boundaries are not always obvious. While a fence, hedge or driveway may look as though it defines the edge of a property the actual boundaries can be quite different. In older areas the boundary pegs may be missing, eroded by time or moved by building works. If you cannot see your property boundary pegs you may need a redefinition survey. This is where our surveyors undertake a full cadastral survey of your site and mark your boundaries.
It is often necessary to update property information and confirm your legal boundary at the time of building a fence, new structure, renovation or subdivision or applying to Auckland Council for a resource consent. Construction works may need certification to define legal boundarie. A redefinition survey with an accompanying full cadastral data set is the only way of achieving this, ticking all the legal boxes.
Only a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor (LCS) can provide a redefinition survey service; we have nine LCSs on staff. Envivo has one of the largest surveying teams in the country, with offices based in Auckland and Christchurch, we provide nationwide survey services.
