Most construction projects have contingencies and flexibilities in their schedules to allow for run-over that may arise from unforeseen difficulties. When the project is refitting of one of the busiest theatres in Auckland, pre booked events make the deadline critical and inflexible.
We came in on Day 1 to undertake a highly detailed asbuilt of the theatre –so that the architects could determine specific designs for each new structural or cosmetic feature. We then worked throughout the close-down period of 2011 / 2012 to enable, suspended ceilings, acoustic reflectors, sloped curved and arced stalls surfaces, orchestra lift pits and many other complicated structures to be positioned to stringent accuracy requirements.
We were the go-to contractor whenever difficulties arose, due to our unique ability to solve positional issues before they affected the critical time path. We enabled the main contractor, Hawkins,to complete the project on time and to spectacular quality. We look forward the challenge of Stage 2 over the summer of 2012 and 2013 at which point the stalls and balcony will be finished to similar exceptional standard.
