The full redevelopment of the existing 1976 building located at 48 Greys Avenue, Auckland City proved to be both challenging and exciting. The development included a full exterior reclad in a glass a steel facade, an additional 5 levels to the existing 6 level building and new accesses on both the Mayoral Drive and Greys Avenue. The redevelopment of the building accommodates a 122 room boutique hotel, 4 levels of offices and a café and restaurant at the northern and ground levels of the building.
The application did not only require high quality detailed design and illustrations from Woodhams Mikle Zhan Architects but also detailed site survey, 3D modelling, arboricultural considerations, acoustic assessments, wind assessments, landscape assessments, and detailed forensic shadowing studies on Myers Park and the adjacent buildings. Thorough consultation was also required with the Auckland Council Urban Design Panel, the legacy Arts, Culture and Recreation Department, and Auckland Transport.
The attention to detail and proactive approach by our team and effort put into the application before submission of the application to Council, enable the application be processed on a non-notified basis and a decision being issued within 2 months.
